By Linda Genevieve Davis Really like the advice about putting a doorstop in a hotel door, When I was in a hotel in Vienna, the staff let themselves in to my room twice with their key to do an afternoon cleaning. They knocked several times, but since I was taking a nap I didn't get up and answer the door. If I had read your book first and taken doorstops with me, I'd have been left undisturbed. Also like the advice on not going with anyone when you get there. I once went with a guy to an inexpensive hotel from a train station in Italy. I was very trusting and he was trustworthy - just worked for the hotel and brought business over to the hotel from the train station. But the situation could have been not on the level and my trust was ill placed. Thanks for all the good advice!

By bethanie This book offers information that is crucial for the woman traveler, particularly the lone traveler who is not a destination tourist but goes off the beaten path. I have to admit that I thought myself an informed traveler but this book has opened my eyes to issues of which I have been naive. Engle not only raises awareness of often overlooked safety concerns but offers real workable solutions.This advice can and should be applied to any travel situation, even if you are just going out to your local shopping center. Her five dollar doorstop tip is one that I have started to use daily in my own home, for the safety of my children.

By Louise An interesting easy read that provided some great ideas that all of us ladies probably need when we are traveling. One of the best ideas was to put a door jam in the door of a hotel room for safety. Love that idea and will be using it in the future.
