“Vo Nguyen Giap, Southeast Asia's most successful Communist general, Minister of Defense and Commander in Chief of North Vietnam's army, shares with Premier Khrushchev a conviction that the future holds many "just wars of national liberation." This volume stresses the climate of Asia, Africa, and Latin American, torn today by anti-colonial, economic, and political upheavals. It is General Giap's purpose in this book, originally published in 1962, to guide these struggles to the desired "socialist" victory. The speeches and essays that comprise this key document provide not only the tactical doctrine for effective insurgency operations, but also the political guidelines for enlisting the people in the insurgents' side.”-Print ed.

I was always interested in the mindset of the Vietnamese and this brings it home. It isnt easy reading but it is good reading if you want to understand how the NVA operated and what their leadership thought. I walked away knowing why they won and we didnt although we never lost a battle. Their leaders were committed to victory and ours were committed to winning the next election instead of winning the war. Their are lessons in here for todays battle with terrorism. Which of us is committed to victory?

Van Court "People's War People's Army" has more theory than the author's "Military Art of People's War", but that is not saying much. This work is more of a detailed history of the Vietnam war from the 1940s through 1960 or 61, with some commentary on the underlying theory, and a lot of anti-American, and anti-French propaganda. To its credit, this book does an excellent job of describing the strategic and operational level thinking of the Vietnamese communists in the period covered. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone studying the Vietnam war, so they can get a well rounded perspective of goals and intentions of the Vietnamese communists.I was hoping for more discussion of Vietnamese military theory, but the underlying theory behind the North Vietnamese military plans and actions was not well addressed. Strategic thinking was articulated, but how they decided on these ends and ways was not. On the other hand, Giap recommended "The Resistance War Will Win" by Truong Chinh, so I guess I know what my next book will be.E. M. Van Court

A HISTORICALLY-SIGNIFICANT COLLECTION OF MILITARY WRITINGS By Steven H Propp Võ Nguyên Giáp (born 1911) was a principal Viet Cong commander in the First Indochina War (1946-1954) and the Vietnam War (1960-1975).This book is more a collection of papers than the "Insurrection Manual for Underdeveloped Countries" that the cover of the 1968 Bantam edition proclaims it to be. (Or, as Roger Hilsman interprets in his very uncomplimentary introduction---wherein he compares it to Hitler's Mein Kampf---"a lot of it is simply lies.")War correspondent and historian Bernard B. Fall is more objective in his historical introduction to Giap's life, and states that Giap, not Ho Chi Minh, is the one who gave the Vietnam People's Army the "fearsome military apparatus" that made it the "strongest native military force in Southeast Asia today."In Giap's writings themselves, he states plainly that the fighting strategy adopted was one of guerrila warfare. (Pg. 42) He favors compulsory military service (Pg. 54), and sees the North as fighting a "long-term resistance war" (Pg. 85), in which "Successes in many small fights added together gradually wear out the enemy manpower..."(Pg. 91) He advises his forces to strike to win, and to strike only when success is certain. "If it is not, then don't strike." (Pg. 148)This book is still significant for those studying the Vietnam War.

The snow-storm lasted another day; but what became of it afterwards, I cannot possibly imagine. At any rate, it entirely cleared away, during the night; and when the sun arose, the next morning, it shone brightly down on as bleak a tract of hill-country, here in Berkshire, as could be seen anywhere in the world. The frost-work had so covered the windowpanes that it was hardly possible to get a glimpse at the scenery outside.

A fascinating tale of several adventures of Hercules By Israel Drazin This is one of the many Greek classic tales that Nathaniel Hawthorne, the great novelist of mid-nineteenth century New England retold to be enjoyed by children. It is the classic “The Garden of Hesperides,” one of the many tales about the Greek hero Hercules, although Hawthorne adds suspense to the tale by not revealing that the hero is Hercules until part of the story has been told. It is a tale that children will enjoy. Many people looked for the famed garden, but none found it; in fact some who went searching never returned. In this tale Hercules went searching because his cruel cousin who was the king made him do it. The difficulty was that the garden was guarded by a dragon with 100 heads and Hercules, like the others, did not know where the garden was located.. Hercules protected himself by carrying a massive club. He wore a shaggy lion’s skin from a lion he had killed. Hercules goes through many adventures in this drama and meets many strange but interesting people, including a group of damsels with whom Hercules stays for a while and tells them some of his many adventures. He also meets “The Old Man of the Sea” who can change his shape at will but who doesn’t want to tell Hercules where the garden is. He also meets with others such as the giant who holds up the sky. Children will find the tale fascinating. It is a great way to introduce them to classical literature.

The clearest picture yet of what life was really like in German-occupied France during World War II, using previously unpublished first-person accounts of ordinary men and women who lived through this extraordinary and dangerous time   Using new, meticulously researched material, Douglas Boyd tells an enthralling and sometimes chilling narrative history of the Occupation, as lived by the French people. Less than one per cent of the French people were pro-German. Is it pure coincidence that the same percentage actively resisted the Germans despite knowing that, if caught, their husbands, wives, and children were considered equally culpable under the brutal Teutonic principle of Sippenhaft—guilt by association? It is a record of great heroism and ultimate cruelty.

A good introduction to France under German Occupation By EconGuy In this extensive work, Voices from the Dark Years by Douglas Boyd provides a new perspective to occupied France during World War II. Boyd has always had an interest in France and has written several other books on this subject in which he provides his own unique viewpoint. In this book, Boyd attempts to answer the question: "what was life really like in German occupied France?" He disputes the claim by many other historians that the French were either collaborators or members of the resistance. He argues that only one percent of French civilians were pro-German and about the same amount were pro-resistance. This, he believes, was the result of the French being more concerned with everyday life because of the importance of finding food and work (xiii).Boyd attempts to write a complete account of occupied France that starts with the defeat of France in World War II and ends with liberation. In the beginning of the book, Boyd criticized the "Popular Front" for losing the war because he believes they were "pacifists." He also notes the fact that most of the French weapons were outdated and ninety percent of their artillery was from World War I (7). The failure of the Popular Front to modernize their military allowed Marshal Petain to come into power. Petain's policies would emphasize nationalism and religion in order to make France strong again.France was in no position to return to its pre-war conditions. More than 2,500 bridges and 1,300 railroad stations were destroyed (76). Germany occupied the northern three-fifths of their land, which included most of France's industry, financial center, oil reserves, and mineral reserves (29). The French economy was severely weakened. Oil was not available to the general public anymore and bicycles became the main source of transportation. There was also a food shortage that limited French civilian's consumption to: horsemeat, fish, root vegetables, and bread that was redeemable through the use of coupons. In occupied France, the Nazis even set up soup kitchens in order to help the starving French civilians (39). As a consequence of the food restrictions, black markets started to emerge with higher than usual prices. The French franc declined by more than fifty percent of its value from 1940 to liberation (202). The author also mentions some of the Nazis' tyrannical behavior, which limited economic activity. The Nazis enacted curfews and taxes on the French civilians (79). They also discriminated against Jews by preventing them from working in any professions." (119).Boyd explains the consequences of liberation. First he describes the beginning of liberation as anarchy because there was no form of a strong established government because Petain was removed from power without being replaced. Women were getting their heads shaved for having relationships with German soldiers and collaborators were either being captured or even murdered (258). After the French regained control over their nation, political officials such as Petain and Pierre Laval were put on trial for treason because of their roles of collaborating with the Nazis (271).Although this book is a good book to begin with when studying occupied France, it has its weaknesses. There are times when the author needs to clarify his ideas. For example, he claims that Leon Trotsky was a friend of Pierre Laval, yet he does not explain what type of relationship this was and how this made the government suspicious of his behavior (58). The author also does not use a lot of new material. The majority of the material Boyd uses are from secondary sources and the primary sources he used have been used by past authors. Overall, Voices from the Dark Years is worth reading for anybody who wants a general understanding of occupied France, since it is one of the few books that offer an objective perspective.

Cairo, 'Mother of the World': its vividly diverse neighborhoods and building styles reveal its cosmopolitan energy and reflect the myriad of economic, political, and cultural forces that have shaped the city over the centuries. So impressed was Khedive Ismail after a visit to Haussman's 'new' Paris in 1867 that he decided to build a modern city along the same architectural lines and aesthetics, and brought European architects to Cairo to initiate Egypt's most dynamic building period since medieval times. The stunning buildings of late-nineteenth- and early-twentieth-century Cairo remain, but they are neglected, threatened by pollution, and are being pulled down for concrete highrises and parking lots. Paris along the Nile captures in 200 black-and-white photographs the architectural jewels of 'modern' Cairo.

Not only for architects By Fo I bought this book because I wanted to have a look at old Cairo, this part of the city that has been unspoiled by time and, unfortunately, neglected by men. I think the Egyptian Government should do something to restore and exploit these buildings for the sake of Cairo's beauty. The pictures are nice and the texts are mainly for those who have an architectural interest for Cairo's past. I am not an architect, though, and I enjoyed the book - perhaps because I love this city very much.

By Cabin Fever Books Cairo has many parts...there is old Cairo...There is Coptic Cairo which was built on the old Roman Fort...called Babylon on the Nile. There is Old Fusat the original Islamic Settlement just north of the Roman Fort...Then there was Islamic Cairo...which was built further to the north of old Cairo, but away from the banks of the Nile because the flooding was not yet fully controlled...Then, last...after the floods were control...there was European Cairo, built in the 19th Century, as "Paris on the Nile," mainly with money acquired when the American Civil War caused cotton prices to soar...This book pictures the new European Cairo...on the Banks of the Nile...a small place compared to Cairo as a whole...but the most accessible part of Cairo to the Western Tourist... Somebody wanted to leave this planet, so they built a stargate to take them across time and space. If they get it working, the Giza Stargate will destroy every living thing on Earth, and even the planet itself. The Great Pyramid is the device, and the Tablets of Destiny are the power source. Never meant to be a tomb for Khufu or any other pharaoh, the Great Pyramid is an awesome machine that could destroy the world.

Opens the doorway for thinking about a different set of 'what ifs' By American Women Online This book pulls together many different ideas into one new theory, which is a surprising twist on many different things I have read before. But now I wonder, if it will be the opposite of the author's theory, and instead of beings, whatever they may be, demons or Titans, attempting to return to the Heavens, perhaps it will be Jesus Christ returning to Earth instead. The author's explanation of what would happen if the Stargate was real and ever used for someone to reach Heaven also matches quite well with the book of Revelation regarding events that will take place when Jesus is about to return. Good book, makes those with an open mind think about things in a new way.

So it's fun to read a book that is both a nod to the original source material and something that has its own backstory and mythology. This book is really well-written and it's an action-packed read that will leave you wanting more once it's done. Really nice surprise.

Running more than 1,200 miles from headwaters in eastern New Mexico through the middle of Texas to the Gulf of Mexico, the Brazos River has frustrated developers for nearly two centuries. This environmental history of the Brazos traces the techniques that engineers and politicians have repeatedly used to try to manage its flow. The vast majority of projects proposed or constructed in this watershed were failures, undone by the geology of the river as much as the cost of improvement. When developers erected locks, the river changed course. When they built large-scale dams, floodwaters overflowed the concrete rims. When they constructed levees, the soils collapsed. Yet lawmakers and laypeople, boosters and engineers continued to work toward improving the river and harnessing it for various uses. Through the plight of the Brazos River Archer illuminates the broader commentary on the efforts to tame this nation's rivers as well as its historical perspectives on development and technology. The struggle to overcome nature, Archer notes, reflects a quintessentially American faith in technology.

Kenna Archer's excellent book looks at the unique environmental conditions of this river and at the often unsuccessful efforts to tame its "unruly waters." In the process she tackles the narrative that most environmental historians have adopted (Donald Worster in "Rivers of Empire" and Richard White in "The Organic Machine") of the triumph of human hubris over nature and the positive and negative consequences of these conquests. The Brazos, though less famous and powerful than the Colorado or Columbia, has never truly been tamed. Indeed, Texas rivers, like Texas itself, embodies both the West and the South and projects, she asserts, reflected this regional differences, stressing, at various times, navigation, flood control, and irrigation. This book has much to offer both students of the environmental history of rivers and those interested more specifically in the history of the Lone Star State.

By Library Account This book is the definitive history of the Brazos River which flows through Brazoria County where our college is located. It is a very autoritative history of the river and describes it's long history of floods a phenomena that we suffer from periodically.

"One Love", legendary in proportions, unites the "Two Hearts" of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy. Delight in the sweet romance of "Three Stories" from J. Dawn King’s what-if variations inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. The Library becomes the set of a comedy of errors which just might open up the path to endearing confessions between these two hearts as Mr. Darcy takes a golden opportunity to command Elizabeth’s attention while at Netherfield Park. (Novella) Married! Elizabeth Bennet is thrown into a misadventure when she successfully assists a fellow maiden in distress only to find her own reputation jeopardized. When the only solution is to marry a man she just met, can she find happiness with the kind-hearted, but imperfect stranger? Is love a faraway dream in her new life as Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy? (Novel) When Darcy receives not one letter, but two from Ramsgate, he immediately drops everything to rush to his sister’s rescue. What will he find at the end of the road? While expecting the worst, this might possibly be the best thing to ever happen to him. (Novella) The Library and Married! have both been voted reader favorites at Jaffrecs.com. J. Dawn King has also written Amazon bestsellers A Father’s Sins and Compromised!

About the Author Joy Dawn King started telling stories from an early age. However, she did not write any of them down until she was 57 years old. While living high in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador with her husband and family, she read Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice for the first time. It was love at first page. After she was done, she longed for more. When searching for another copy of Jane Austen’s writings, she happened upon several books that offered alternative paths to happily ever after for Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. She purchased and read as many as she could find. Finally, in early 2014, she had an idea for a story about the couple that would not go away. Thus, her first book, A Father’s Sins: A Pride and Prejudice Variation, was born. Since then, Joy and her husband moved back to the U.S. and plot bunnies kept hopping in and out of her imagination. Now, it’s all she can do to keep up with them. But, she tries.

By Tina Carter Since this book has three different stories I will be looking at each story individually. The Library - This is a cute little story. The main premise of it is Darcy declaring his love way before Hunsford in the Netherfield library. The only thing that gets me is that Elizabeth at one point tells him that she doesn't love him but by the time they leave the library she's in love with him. Talk about changing your feelings way to fast. I did like that Caroline got walked forcefully out the library. And the footman ogling her assets was hilarious.Married! - The premise of this story is that Elizabeth and Darcy have to marry because of Georgiana's actions at Ramsgate. Elizabeth writes a letter to him to get him to save his sister from Wickham and Mrs. Younge. However since Lizzy wrote a single man who is not connected to her in any way a letter she is now compromised. Georgiana in this book goes from being shy to being a spoiled little bitch because Elizabeth and Darcy decide to punish her for her role at Ramsgate. She even tries to come between Bingley and Jane. Needless to say I didn't really like her in this book.Ramsgate - This novella takes place in Ramsgate, however George Wickham is given no opportunity to try to elope with Georgiana as she catches him kissing Mrs. Younge. She runs to her newest friend, Elizabeth and pours her heart out to her. Darcy is summoned to Ramsgate and he becomes smitten with Lizzy. The Bingley's invite themselves to Ramsgate and Charles falls in love with a Lady Olivia Sternhaven. Richard also comes to the sea side city and falls in love with Jane.I really enjoyed all the stories in this book but my favorite is Ramsgate. I recommend this book to anybody who enjoys a good JAFF happily ever after.

This book contains three separate stories of "what ifs". All three were very entertaining. I have read other books that contained 340 pages, and it seemed like they lasted forever. This book read quickly and smoothly. All the characters from P&P held to their characters. None of them strayed very far by being a serial killer or anything of the sort. Georgiana, in the second book was a spoiled, petulant, 15 year old who tried to be grown before her time, flirting with every zipper that came her way. I loved how Elizabeth tried to rein her in by making her do household chores. Col. Fitzwilliam and Darcy took her to visit a Mrs. Timmons, (the wife of a soldier), to show her what her life could be like if she were to marry too soon to just anyone. Lady Matlock advised them to get her a companion who could basically explain life to her.I would highly recommend this book to any P&P fan. I gave it 4.5 stars because there were a few words either misspelled or out of place that made me have to stop and think twice. (I must admit, there were not very many mistakes in this book, and that's why I gave it 4.5 stars.Keep up the good work, Ms. King.

By Meredith (Austenesque Reviews) Austenesque anthologies seem to be all the rage at the moment! I love that authors are writing Austenesque-inspired short stories, and novellas – not every plot bunny can be fleshed out into a full-length novel! And these shorter works are great for readers who may be looking for a quick dip into Jane Austen’s world or who perhaps only have brief bouts of reading time available. I think it is wonderful that Ms. King challenged herself to write these more compact stories and I’m so pleased she published them all together in one collection! As a reader, I love that all the stories are together in one volume (and that it comes in paperback!)Since there are three stories, I thought I’d breakdown my review and talk about each one individually. I hope you find it helpful!THE LIBRARY: A Pride and Prejudice Novelette- The Premise: What if Darcy, instead of completely ignoring Elizabeth while they both sat in the Netherfield library reading, was caught staring? And what if amiable conversations, revealing concessions, and changing perceptions were the results of these two being left alone in the library undisturbed?- What I Loved: That the development of such a sweet romance took place in a library! As soon as Darcy is frank with Elizabeth, their relationship begins to evolve and it was very pleasing to witness these two reach an understanding of each other so quickly. I also loved reading the footman’s thoughts about the residents of Netherfield and I especially loved his part in the epilogue! In addition, I thought it creative that all the chapter titles began with the letter C. This short work was very clever and charming!MARRIED: A Pride and Prejudice Novella- The Premise: What if Elizabeth, traveling by stage from London, noticed the odd and distressed behaviors of her traveling companions and decided to intervene? What if Elizabeth’s kindhearted and courageous actions landed her in a dilemma that could cause damage to reputation?- What I Loved: How Colonel Fitzwilliam easily saw how perfect Darcy and Elizabeth were for each other and conveniently used Elizabeth’s dilemma as reason for them to marry with all haste! It is always interesting to see how Darcy and Elizabeth fall in love after marriage, and this tale showed how easily and effortlessly it can be between these two. I thought the development of Georgiana’s character interesting and greatly admired Elizabeth’s actions towards her and towards her husband. I also greatly enjoyed Lady Matlock and her support and love for her family. This variation had a lot of family drama and I found it equally eventful and exciting!RAMSGATE: A Pride and Prejudice Novelette- The Premise: The Bennets are taking a sea-side holiday in Ramsgate with the Gardiners, what if they befriended Miss Georgiana Darcy and she came to them in distress about the actions of George Wickahm?- What I Loved: Seeing Georgiana and Elizabeth as friends before Elizabeth even met Mr. Darcy! I thought it was hilarious how Colonel Fitzwilliam and the Bingleys also showed up and how the couples paired off with each other! Darcy’s actions were very sweet and endearing in this tale.CONCLUSION:I loved reading these heart-felt and beautiful scenes of romance between Darcy and Elizabeth! These delightful tales is a perfect way to satisfy your Darcy and Elizabeth romance fix as the stories are very Darcy-and-Elizabeth centric, full of swift understandings, and usually include very brief courtships. Besides her thoughtful and tender approach to our beloved couple, what I enjoy most about Ms. King’s style of writing is how she illustrates her scenes with descriptive prose and the use of similes. I look forward to reading more works by J. Dawn King in the future, whether they be short-story, novella, or full-length novel!Austenesque Reviews

Johann Christoph Blumhardt (1805-1880) was a pastoral counselor and theologian of hope. His theology and pastoral approach, shaped as they were by the awakening in his congregation and numerous incidents of faith healing, provoked earnest and lively debate, and the controversy continues today. Ising's work mines the original sources, the product of an interaction with Blumhardt's life and work that goes back many years. He has drawn a portrait that explores the shadows as well as its bright side. Readers are invited to enter fully into the nineteenth century, Blumhardt's century, yet are constantly reminded that the problems of that day have lost none of their currency within the altered mental horizons of today. "This is the long expected, definitive biography of the Swabian Protestant Pastor Johann Christoph Blumhardt … Ising shows that Blumhardt's legacy deserves more than nostalgic remembrance. It poses a genuine challenge to the perceptions and practices of Christian counseling, which is often highly professional but no longer dares to count on God's presence in the counseling process itself." --Christoffer H. Grundmann author of Sent to Heal! Emergence and Development of Medical Missions "Blumhardt's biography, from its earliest beginnings until his quiet death, has received magisterial treatment by Dieter Ising. The narrative is as judicious as it is vivid; this is so particularly with regard to Blumhardt's place within the framework of Pietism and the 'surplus' in addition to Pietism that he was able to find, the way he grew beyond his limitations." --Paul Dieterich Prelate (ret.), Lutheran Church in Württemberg "There is now available a wealth of biographical material which enables us, to a much greater degree than before, to illuminate Blumhardt's place in the history of the territorial churches and in contemporary church life. This has made possible the present biography, a model of its kind, in which Dieter Ising has been able to base his account on his comprehensive edition of Blumhardt's letters as well as on further previously unpublished materials." --Gerhard Sauter author of Die Theologie des Reiches Gottes beim älteren und jüngeren Blumhardt "Until recently, Blumhardt has appeared as a mysterious figure. This has now changed with Dieter Ising's clearly-written and thorough biography . . . The result is a vivid portrayal of a man set clearly in the context of his life and times and speaking to us today in ways that challenge our own ways of thinking. This biography must not be overlooked by anyone interested in contemporary theology or pastoral care, especially with the healing message so popular in the churches of the Southern Hemisphere. I enthusiastically recommend it." --Frank D. Macchia author of Spirituality and Social Concern: The Message of the Blumhardts in the Light of Wuerttemberg Pietism Dieter Ising wrote his doctoral thesis at Tübingen under the supervision of Jürgen Moltmann. His field of research is Württemberg church history and history of theology. In the Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart he has edited the correspondence of Johann Christoph Blumhardt (7 volumes, 1993-2001) and is editing the correspondence of Johann Albrecht Bengel.

I came away from it feeling like I knew him – a genuine, unpretentious, servant-minister who selflessly gave of himself and his time to draw people into a close relationship with the Lord and to minister in love to their deepest needs. Many miraculous healings of body and soul resulted from Blumhardt's ministry. The account of the dramatic healing of Gottlieben Dittus from powers of darkness is captivating; a tribute to the power and the Name of Jesus! Dieter Ising is indeed a gifted author!

One of the greats of cowboy lore By A Customer This small poem book of cowboy life, rates at the top with Kipling, Stevenson and others of such class.Mr. Clark has put together a touch of the hardships and gut wrenching woes of ekeing out a living, captured the style and stories of the cowboy's wide open, freedom form and ethics, to this, a generous salting of humor is added for flavor. Definitely a top choice to curl up by the fire "and dreamed soft dreams of veal".

He was a radio operator for the Little Orphan Annie Unit, the 145 Field Artillery. As a veteran of Saipan, Tinian, and Quadjalein (sp), he even beat McArthur back to the Phillipines. As a result, "it got throwed in the ocean a couple of times." He found it a great comfort. Tattered and stained, we still read from it.He shares with us poems like, "The Yellow Stuff" and the one about the Loco'ed Hawse. The favorite of all of us begins, "When my rope gets hold of a two-year old, by the hoof or the leg or the horn. .." It reminds us that the real challenge is to be the master of your self. These poems have become and important part of our family folklore.

I've read it cover to cover a couple of times. I enjoy his deceptively plain and simple imagery, and the occasional tidbit of dry humor. If the link hasn't expired you can hear a performance of "To Her" at [...]

Despite the fact that China’s enormous economy is clearly headed into recession, there are still opportunities to make big money in one industry that shows absolutely no sign of slowing down. The domestic wedding industry continues to grow in size, even though it is is already six times the size of its American counterpart. Best of all, the demand for western looking photo priests is sky high, which translates into amazing salaries for anybody that can do a simple twenty minutes of work. More and more five-star hotels are building their own in-house wedding chapels but there are simply not enough white priests to meet the exploding demand. This book has everything you need to get started, from real contacts to full ceremony scripts, in both Chinese characters and easy to read pinyin. All you need is a suitable outfit (there is a chapter on that too) and you will be ready to get out there and make ten times what the average English teacher makes.

A Most Unusual Guide - But Very Interesting By Jack This book covers in great detail all aspects of the business of non-religious western weddings in China and has an extensive description of the evolution of Chinese wedding ceremonies. It is a worthwhile read just for this insight into Chinese culture, particularly as it has been impacted by the one child policy.Within are detailed descriptions of the ceremony itself with quite a few scripts/dialog for use in the ceremony as well as typical wedding small talk, most of it presented in English, Chinese and Pinyin. A section discusses the study of Chinese wedding customs, with the best material being romantic comedy movies and TV shows. Detailed instructions are provided on where to find this material and download it.Every part of the process is covered in great detail – vestments, advertising, what to charge, etc. For someone actually planning on becoming a wedding priest there is no better guide, but be aware that at least a minimal knowledge of Mandarin will probably be required.

By Amazon Customer A very interesting little book for those who are bored of their lives and looking for an adventure to China where they can earn as they go. For those willing to learn some Mandarin this "how to" guide has a lot of information from an author that knows what he is talking about. There are lots of practical suggestions like wedding ceremony scripts, vestments, venues and more. Probably targeted more towards English teachers and those finding themselves at a loose end rather than the fully committed expatriate or entrepreneur, it was still an interesting read. I did find myself wanting to hear some crazy stories from the author's time in the industry, and would look forward to the next chapter of the tell all. Names changed of course.Worth buying if you need a change, because as they say, "adventure is out there".

It has a very straightforward approach, with practical, logical steps on how to do exactly what the title says. I think that anybody living in China or working there as a teacher will find this book both useful and interesting.
