Juan, Lupe, Pablo, Sara, and their children are two families with Mexican heritage happily living as citizens in the United States of America.

But in 1929, President Herbert Hoover, hoping to ease the 25 percent unemployment rate caused by the Great Depression, orders them back to Mexico—along with more than one million other Mexicans and American citizens of Mexican descent in a sweeping act known as Mexican Repatriation.

Not from Here, Not from There: The Forced Migration of American Citizens vividly paints a picture of the harsh realities these families are forced to face as a result of their mandatory deportation. Suffering deplorable conditions back in Mexico that include extreme poverty and harsh discrimination, these two families endure years of unspeakable hardships in the hopes of one day returning to their real homeland— the United States of America.

Author Maria Teresa H. de Holcomb presents a thought-provoking dramatic play based on actual events. Filled with pain yet infused with hope, it takes an honest and unapologetic look at this shameful period of American history.

I believe this book would also be an excellent resource for those in the teaching profession By univprof I consider myself a well-educated person regarding U.S. history, but I was not aware of this mass deportation. Dr. Holcomb relates the event in a play format with fictional characters giving the reader insight into how the deported persons might have felt. Their feelings of sadness, fear and betrayal were overwhelming. Despite all of this, the characters never lost hope. I found their resiliency in the face of such an injustice inspiring. As someone employed in education, I believe this book would also be an excellent resource for those in the teaching profession.

American public universities suffered tremendous funding cuts during the 1930s, yet they were also responsible for educating increasing numbers of students. The mounting financial troubles, coupled with a perceived increase in the number of “radical” student activists, contributed to a general sense of crisis on American college campuses. University leaders used their athletic programs to combat this crisis and to preserve “traditional” American values and institutions, prescribing different models for men and women. Educators emphasized the competitive nature of men’s athletics, seeking to inculcate male college athletes (and their audiences) with individualistic, masculine values in order to reinforce the existing American political and economic systems. In stark contrast, the prevailing model of women’s college athletics taught a communal form of democracy. Strongly supported by almost all female athletic leaders, this “a girl for every game, and a game for every girl” model had replaced the more competitive model that had been popular until the 1920s. The new programs denied women individual attention and high-level competition, and they promoted the development of what was considered proper femininity. Whatever larger purposes these programs were intended to serve, they could not have survived without vocal supporters. Democratic Sports tells the important story of how men’s and women’s college athletic programs survived, and even thrived, during the most challenging decade of the twentieth century.

For four centuries Britain was an integral part of the Roman Empire, a political system stretching from Turkey to Portugal and from the Red Sea to the Tyne and beyond. Roman Britain: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions), by Peter Salway

Review "[Peter Salway] admirably succeeds in condensing 400 years of Romano-British history into less than 110 pages, holding the reader's attention with frequent sociocultural and economic digressions. Moreover, his plain and engaging style make a complex and often problematic set of historical information accessible to the broader public." --Bryn Mawr Classical Review

About the Author Peter Salway has been a Special Advisor on Roman Britain to the National Trust Chedworth Roman Villa Development Project since the early 1990s to the present. He has written a 5-year excavation plan and a 15-year research agenda for the next stage of the project. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Britain showered by the Romans By HH FYI: The first edition of this little volume, along with numerous other VSIs on British history, is available in its entirety as a chapter in The Oxford History of Britain. Oxford University Press has buried this fact in small print on the copyright page and they mention it nowhere in their item description because they want you to buy books that you don't need based on their "brand" alone. It's a sneaky capitalist plot. However, in the case of Salway's chapter this second edition is worth owning in its own right, for it offers an up-to-date and comprehensive account of Roman Britain, including both archaeological and textual evidence. The real value of Salway's chapter is still (a) his look at the impact of Roman rule on Britain and its aftermath, and (b) his account of the development of coinage during this time period and the contrasts between the Early/High Empire and Late Roman Empire. New to this edition are essential updates in light of research in the area during the past several decades.

Without giving too much away, suffice it to say, we get a lot of rip-roaring action in the general region of Tierra del Fuego, on the Pacific side. The characters are all very well done. This a very enjoyable and satisfying story to read.

I did skip a lot of the descriptions of the land/sea as a couple of paragraphs are enough for me. It wasn't really an interesting story to me, but could be to others. No sex or foul language, which is what I know will be in these older stories when the world's morals were better. So I appreciated the book for being a clean book

Like all of Hawthorne's novels, "The Scarlet Letter" has but a slender plot and but few characters with an influence on the development of the story. Its great dramatic force depends entirely on the mental states of the actors and their relations to one another, —relations of conscience, — relations between wronged and wrongers. Its great burden is the weight of unacknowledged sin as seen in the remorse and cowardice and suffering of the Rev. Arthur Dimmesdale. Contrasted with his concealed agony is the constant confession, conveyed by the letter, which is forced upon Hester, and has a double effect, — a healthful one, working beneficently, and making her helpful and benevolent, tolerant and thoughtful ; and an unhealthful one, which by the great emphasis placed on her transgression, the keeping her forever under its ban and isolating her from her fellows, prepares her to break away from the long repression and lapse again into sin when she plans her flight. Roger Chillingworth is an embodiment of subtle and refined revenge. The most striking situation is perhaps "The Minister's Vigil," in chapter xii. The book, though corresponding in its tone and burden to some of the shorter stories, had a more startling and dramatic character, and a strangeness, which at once took hold of a larger public than any of those had attracted. Though imperfectly comprehended, and even misunderstood in some quarters, it was seen to have a new and unique quality; and Hawthorne's reputation became national.

Review

Anyone interested in how novels refract history will be enriched by the Broadview edition of The Scarlet Letter. The valuable introduction and extensive archival material will give readers a great foundation for using Hawthorne s historicist methodology as a model for discussing the complexities of history and storytelling not only for Hawthorne but for contemporary readers as well. Lauren Berlant, University of Chicago

John Stephen Martin s meticulously prepared edition of The Scarlet Letter offers both students and general readers the most comprehensive introduction to Hawthorne s life and work currently available in one volume. With its historical contextualization, enormously helpful annotations, and judicious assessment of Hawthorne s greatest work, it establishes itself as the single best guide to this great American masterpiece. Joel Porte, Cornell University

This edition is the most effective teaching tool for Hawthorne s text that I know. Contained within a single volume, students have everything that is necessary for a rich understanding of one of the most important moments in American literary history. Especially donative are the substantial contextualizations provided here literary, social, and historical and in turn, these contextualizations ground the principal issues with which Hawthorne s romance engages. Supplementary to all this is the extensive bibliography, far-ranging and comprehensive. This edition is easily the most comprehensive introduction to the work that is currently available. Ian Bell, Keele University

After publishing The Scarlet Letter in 1850, its status as an instant bestseller allowed him to earn a living as a novelist. Full of dark romanticism, psychological complexity, symbolism, and cautionary tales, his work is still popular today. He has earned a place in history as one of the most distinguished American writers of the nineteenth century.

Gates There are so many things I could say about this book, but should I reach the heights of elegance achieved only by Shakespeare, Hawthorne himself, or Faulkner, I could not overcome the horrible, terrible misconceptions most people have formed after having this beautiful novel foisted upon them in high school. Instead, I'll share a few observations and some tips for reading.First, this is a complicated story. It's not about evil Puritans and hero Hester, although you will read this point of view in the cheat note summaries on the internet. It's not about feminism, really, nor is it about religion in any technical sense. The only comparison that really fits is that of love story, or love triangle, or maybe love square. (I told you it is complicated.) In all of literature, there are very few writers who have penned characters so incredibly real and well-rounded. When you finish the novel, you KNOW these people. Certainly there is some minor societal commentary, but the real story here is about these people. Now, I'm assuming that many people looking at this page have been told they must read this book for high school English. As a former teacher of said subject, I have some pointers.(1) Make sure you read the book for yourself. Chances are (in our current educational system) your teacher is going to have a flat interpretation of this book, likely gleaned from some ready-made teaching packet. (If you have another kind of teacher, consider yourself lucky.) You can have some very interesting class discussions if you actually read the material and challenge some of the majority opinions about the novel. Be a rebel. Have some fun in English.(2) Read *The Custom House* introduction, but wait until after you've finished the book. It's only good in that it explains Hawthorne's view of his own book (difficult and painful) and reveals his struggle to write it. The writing style, however, is decidedly un-Hawthorne and more difficult to read than the rest of the book. If you read it first, you will be unfairly biased against the novel.(3)Read it SLOWLY, if at all possible. The storyline is complex and should be read with care. I would also recommend underlining and taking notes, if your copy of the book allows it. You will develop a truly deep appreciation of the work.(4) Finally, avoid the Demi Moore 1995 adaptation AT ALL COSTS. Words cannot describe how awful it is. And if your hope is to find something to help you on the test, the only real similarities are the character's names and the red patch on Hester's dress. If you must see a film version, find the PBS miniseries with John Heard and Meg Foster (made in the 1970s). It does the best job that a film possibly could with this material.

It was one of the first books I downloaded when I got my kindle 2. The character portrayals are superb. It analyses the thoughts, motivations, strengths and weaknesses of the four major characters in the story - Hester Prynn, the vengeful doctor, the hapless minister and Hester's vivacious and elf-like daughter Pearl. The description of the little girl and how she copes with being ostracized with her mother by a rigid puritanical society, is especially moving. While there are some descriptions of nature that are quite vivid, most of the text goes into developing these four characters and is a fascinating psychological study, though at times it's little slow.Overall, a well-crafted story and a good read. The book though is hard to navigate on the kindle because it has no active table of contents. I therefore would not purchase this version at regular price. Luckily, it's free!

However, unlike many reviewers here, I have a much different view of the story. As some people have said before, Hawthorne's book takes a good deal of concentration, effort, and strength to understand. Not only to understand, but to finish. The story can drag sometimes, it is true, and Hawthorne's style of writing occasionally leaves something to be desired (I don't think I've ever seen that many commas, 15 letter words, or page long paragraphs before), but we simply must look past these minor issues. Overall, the plot is highly creative and intense, despite the writing.\Ok, ok, I agree that the first chapter, "The Custom-House", was pretty bad. In fact, it was so bad and boring that I drifted off to sleep several times while reading it! The first chapter has little relevancy with the story, so, unless you have to, I would suggest skipping that part of the text. The rest is exceptionally good, and the quality of the plot cannot be overlooked. My advice is to just lay off the first chapter; that way you'll be able to enjoy the rest of the book without difficulty. The story itself deals with sin and adultery, a subject that isn't very popular right now. Hawthorne does an excellent job of telling us about this, but he leaves the reader with many questions floating around in his mind at the conclusion. At the end of the story you're not 100% sure if Hawthorne was condemning the Puritan society, or if he was commending it. He leaves that for the reader to figure out, which is a thing authors seldom do. That's a major reason I believe this work is so unique and timeless. The story involves a women named Hester Prynne, living in the New World in the late 17th century. She has committed adultery with someone unknown, and, since the Puritan society considered the Bible to be their ultimate source of law, the punishment was quite severe for such an act. Hester is forced to wear a scarlet "A" (for adultery) on her attire at all times, as a sign to everyone that she has sinned deeply. And so she must carry out the rest of her life this way. That's the major gist of the plot, although there's much more. I won't give it anyway, though, you'll have to read the book to find out.Let's face it: at some time or another we all are going to probably have to read this book, voluntarily or involuntarily. Shouldn't we try to make the best of it? Read it for its enjoyment, anything else would be missing the point.

The towns of Camden and Rockport have had a rich, intertwined history since the first settlements in the mid-1700s. Until 1891, they were one town, built on the abundant natural resources of coastal Maine. Many residents in the early 19th century were farmers that carved out a living from the soil, or fishermen that harvested the teeming waters of Penobscot Bay. As the towns grew, successful industries were established that sustained the communities through the mid-20th century. These included fishing, textile mills, lime manufacturing, an anchor factory, and shipbuilding. Majestic schooners were built in the shipyards, and businesses such as the Bay View House hotel, S.B. Haskells clothing store, numerous livery stables and harness shops, Joseph Brewsters Shirt Manufactory, and Knowlton Brothers Foundry lined the main thoroughfares. In Rockport, the Shepherd Company supplied lime, and the Rockport Ice Company cut ice on Lily Pond to be shipped as far as the Caribbean. These tight-knit villages, nestled where the mountains meet the sea, weathered fires and wars, celebrated the launches of massive sailing vessels, and welcomed summer rusticators who helped form a lasting legacy of arts, culture, and learning that continues to draw visitors today.

The Nonesuch edition contains full-color illustrations selected by Dickens himself, by artists including Hablot Knight Browne ("Phiz"), George Cruikshank, John Leech, Robert Seymour, and George Cattermole. The Nonesuch Dickens reproduces the original elegance of these beautiful editions. Each volume is wrapped in a protective, clear acetate jacket. The books are available as individual volumes, or as sets. The six-volume set contains Oliver Twist, Bleak House, Christmas Books, Nicholas Nickleby, David Copperfield, and Great Expectations together with Hard Times. The three-volume set contains A Tale of Two Cities, Little Dorrit, and The Life and Adventures of Martin Chuzzlewit.

About the Author Charles Dickens (1812-1870) was an English writer and social critic. He created some of the world's best-known fictional characters and is regarded as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. His works enjoyed unprecedented popularity during his lifetime, and by the twentieth century critics and scholars had recognised him as a literary genius. His novels and short stories enjoy lasting popularity. Growing up in Portsmouth, Dickens left school to work in a factory when his father was incarcerated in a debtors' prison. Despite his lack of formal education, he edited a weekly journal for 20 years, wrote 15 novels, five novellas, hundreds of short stories and non-fiction articles, lectured and performed extensively, was an indefatigable letter writer, and campaigned vigorously for children's rights, education, and other social reforms. A Tale of Two Cities, Oliver Twist, Great Expectations, David Copperfield, The Old Curiosity Shop and Bleak House are among his most famous and popular works.

For me, it is up there with Great Expectations and David Copperfield as one of his most enjoyable novels (A Christmas Carol is a short story). The social axe that Dickens had to grind in this story is man's injustice to children. Modern readers my feel that his depiction of Dotheboys Academy is too melodramatic. Alas, unfortunately, it was all too real. Charles Dickens helped create a world where we can't believe that such things happen. Dickens even tell us in an introduction that several Yorkshire schoolmasters were sure that Wackford Squeers was based on them and threatened legal action. The plot of Nicholas Nickleby is a miracle of invention. It is nothing more than a series of adventures, in which Nicholas tries to make his way in the world, separate himself from his evil uncle, and try to provide for his mother and sister. There are no unintersting characters in Dickens. Each one is almost a charicature. This book contains some of his funniest characters. To say this is a melodrama is not an insult. This is melodrama at its best. Its a long book, but a fast read.

Dickens is as much a social critic as a storyteller in "Nicholas Nickleby," which basically pits the noble young man who gives the novel its title against his wickedly scheming rich uncle Ralph in a grand canvas of London and English society. At the beginning of the novel, Nicholas's father has just died, leaving his family destitute, and Uncle Ralph, a moneylender (specifically, a usurer) and a venture capitalist of sorts, greedy and callous by the requirements of the story, reluctantly feels obligated to help them, and does so by securing for Nicholas a position as headmaster's assistant at a school for boys in Yorkshire, and for Nicholas's sister Kate a job as a dressmaker for a foppish clown named Mr. Mantalini, while Nicholas and Kate's scatterbrained mother is left in her room to mutter incoherent reminiscences about random events in her life. This Yorkshire school, called Dotheboys Hall, turns out to be little more than a prison in the way it is run by its headmaster, an improbably cruel cyclops named Wackford Squeers who badly mistreats and miseducates the students. Now, historical records indicate that while Squeers may be an exaggeration, his school is definitely not, Dickens intending to warn his readers of the day that some such places were indeed that bad. The duration at Dotheboys Hall constitutes only a small portion of the novel, but Squeers and his grotesque family reappear throughout the rest of the story like gremlins who are always causing bad things to happen to our hero.Nicholas's fortunes after escaping from Dotheboys Hall with Smike, a particularly abused older boy whom Squeers had worked like a slave, revolve largely around the circumstances of Kate and Uncle Ralph, who is starting to view the young man as a nuisance inclined to interfere in his machinations. Having been vilified by Squeers for his brash conduct at the Hall, Nicholas takes to the road with Smike in tow, where in Portsmouth they meet a thespian named Vincent Crummles who persuades the fugitives to become actors in his theatrical troupe; this episode, the strangest of Nicholas's adventures, seems more than anything else to reflect Dickens's own interest in the theater. Eventually Nicholas returns to London and gets a job as a clerk at a counting-house owned by a pair of merchants, the cheery Cheeryble brothers, where he encounters a beautiful girl in distress who will become a major factor in the final showdown between Nicholas and his uncle. The supporting characters are numerous and extremely colorful to the point of cartoonishness, such as Miss La Creevy, a talkative spinster and amateur painter; John Browdie, the gruff Yorkshireman whose dialect is so severe he needs a translator; Sir Mulberry Hawk, the arrogant suitor whom Kates tries to rebuff; Newman Noggs, Uncle Ralph's benevolent clerk who helps our hero when he can. In fact, the most curious thing about the characterization in this novel is that its main characters are almost completely devoid of personality; Nicholas and Kate, perhaps being by necessity innocuous paragons of virtue, are practically mere mannequins to whom people talk and things happen. Even the sickly and wretchedly humble Smike, the mystery of whose parentage becomes a part of the plot, does not induce as much pity as Dickens probably intended because he seems trapped in a story that doesn't really want him except as a device to expose even more of Uncle Ralph's villainy. There is much to like in "Nicholas Nickleby": The prose is finely detailed, the satire of various types of characters is on target, the humor is sharp -- there is a particularly funny and suspenseful scene with an unexpected outcome in which Nicholas dispatches Newman to discover the identity of the mysterious beautiful girl. And there is much not to like: The plot coincidences are ridiculously contrived in typical Dickensian fashion; the drama is manipulative, designed to cheer the reader all the more when the author comes to rescue the heroes from their despair and hopelessness; the sentimentality is overwhelming -- by the end "Nicholas Nickleby" becomes so saccharine it makes "David Copperfield" look like "Blood Meridian." But Dickens remains eminently readable because of his flair for portraying and celebrating human oddity in all its varieties, his knowledge that life is all about taking the bad with the good, and his sense that fiction is all about maximizing the contrast.

I detested it, swore I would never read Dickens again, only to find that my junior year held in store for me what would become one of my favorite novels, Great Expectations, a book heinously bastardized years later by a 'modernized' film adaptation, with Anne Bancroft being the only redeeming feature.Through the years since high school, I have begun to read Dickens of my own free will, and have greatly enjoyed his works.Nicholas Nickelby, one of my all time favorites, is a wonderful novel, typical Dickens, chock full of characters, plots, satire, and story. Nicholas and his immediate family are the 'black sheep' of the Nickelby name. Humble, gentle, and common in the eyes of their well-to-do relative, Uncle Ralph Nickelby, who denounces Nicholas as a boy, and man, who will never amount to anything. In typical Dickens fashion, Nicholas encounters adversity first at a boarding school, then in society, as he forges a name for himself. Along the way he befriends many, enrages some, and invokes the wrath of his Uncle Ralph, determined to prove himself right in bemoaning the shortcomings of his nephew. One point of interest in this novel for me is the major revelation that comes toward the end involving the character of Smike. Throughout the novel he is loveable, pitiable, and utterly realistic, and his significance to the life of Nicholas, as revealed in the final chapters, is a true plot twist, and a charming, if not bittersweet, realization. For anyone forced to read Dickens early in life, if you appreciate quality satire and an engaging look at the London society of more than 125 years ago, visit this novel sometime, it is one of Dicken's finest.

‘A good story, crisply told’ – New York Times Franz von Werra was the only German prisoner of war to escape and return to Germany after being captured by the Allies. An incredibly charismatic, inventive and self-confident man, he was a Luftwaffe ace shot down in the Battle of Britain. The One that Got Away tells the full and exciting story of his two daring escapes in England and his third and successful escape: a leap from the window of a prisoners' train in Canada. Enduring snow and frostbite, he crossed into the then neutral United States. James Leasor's book is based on von Werra's own dictated account of his adventure, coupled with first-hand accounts from many of those involved, and makes for a compelling read. First published in 1953 it was probably the first book about WWII that gave an objective and fair view to both sides, and as such, was an immediate sensation. It was filmed in 1956 with Hardy Kruger starring as von Werra.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. A great adventure By A Customer I always enjoy reading war stories, but detest ones that are fake and just unbelivable. This book while with the author taking you through a documentry at the same time did a great job in keeping the reader going.I obtained my copy from a local market stall for $2.00 last saturday and i finished it by Wednesday in the same week,it just wouldn't let me go. The Authors did justice for Von Werra in presenting an biased view of his exploites, you can feel Von Werra's undying determination, his bottomless energy is awe inspiring. The authors made you feel like you were there digging the tunnel or in the cockpit of the Hurricane hoping the mechanic would hurry up with the Accumulator trolley(used to start the aeroplanes). It was just a pity the book has only 286 pages for i would have kept on reading if it had one thousand. It just drew u in and kept you interested all the way.Bill Pearce

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. An intriguing tale of escape from the other side By A Customer Although there are many books about allied escapees from Colditz and other camps, the story of German prisoners in World War Two is rarely heard. This book gives us that opportunity. Von Werra's story is both heroic as it is exciting. Well worth a read.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A good read By Clayton Sargisson A very good story of escape from a Germans point of view. Von Werra is obviously a man who likes to expand on his version of events but the authors research into what really took place puts a more credible light on it. I finished the book in 2 days.

Sympathetic Yet Condescending By Amazon Customer A Treatise on the Six-Nation IndiansIt is hard to read this treatise without feeling that while sympathetic to the plight of the people of the five nations, Mackenzie is so in a condescending manner. That being said the context of this treatise has to be taken into consideration as well. His treatise is based on his observations and he observes them through his own personal background biases, as we all do when we make observations of individuals, groups or how individuals and groups behave in different situations.I am not sure what his background is I have searched the web and there is nothing on his education or profession. Based on how this treatise is written, I want to say he was some sort of missionary (Christian) and studied very little anthropology or archeology. For if he did his treatise would have provided a better understanding of the Iroquois Culture from that aspect. Instead he writes as though "The Indian", as he puts it, is some sort of breed of animal that is difficult to train because of his lack of understanding of the Euro-Christian ways. That is where, although he uses a sympathetic Christian visage, he is condescending. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because he tries to be understanding of the plight of how the treatment of these people has placed them in this precarious situation but he still does with an air of superiority that he feels he is entitled to. The context of the time period also has to be considered, he wrote in the late 19th Century and that type of an approach was an accepted practice. Without any documentation as to why he wrote this, the way he wrote it, it is hard to come up with an accurate critical review. Perhaps given his chosen audience he felt he needed to write it in this manner otherwise it would not be accepted and the message of how ills of the treatment of Native Americans may not come out otherwise. It is hard to say. Unfortunately I am reading with my own person background biases, that being a 21st Century reader who has had the benefit of some anthropological and archeological background in under graduate and graduate studies.

Michelin maps are frequently updated and specifically designed with travelers in mind. Michelin's cartography, user-friendly format and cross-referencing abilities with its renowned guidebook collections are paramount. The clear, clean and uncluttered style of Michelin maps is compounded with extreme attention to detail covering scenic roads, footpaths, panoramic views, emergency telephones, road widths and more. It's this kind of detail that can, for example, help North American tourists avoid surprises while traveling down narrow roads that are often hundreds of years old. Buildings, monuments, park trails and government offices are highlighted, too. When it comes to ease of use, Michelin has really done its homework. Michelin maps and the patented Michelin fold make it a snap to refold, even with one hand on the wheel. All Michelin atlases are available in spiral format, too. That's the number one binding preference according to independent consumer research. Michelin's unique cross-referencing system also makes mapping out travelers trips a cinch. Maps and guides throughout the Michelin collection work together with universal symbols directing to more information.

Excerpt from Meanderings Among a Thousand Islands: Or an Account of Capt. Visger's Daily Trip on the River St. LawrenceIt is this portion, perhaps more particularly the central and lower part of it, where the Islands are more closely disposed, which has come to be designated as the "Thousand Islands of the St. Lawrence," and which has long been known and celebrated by poets and novelists for its singular and natural beauty. The wild forest, intermingled with partial cultivation upon its Islands and shores; the many narrow and tortuous channels, land-locked bays, with secluded and sheltered nooks among its several clusters, alternated with extensive stretches of open water, many of which themselves might well be called lakes, all clear and pure as the most transparent crystal, present scenes of enchantment, whose beauties are ever changing and never wearying to the eye of the beholder.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
