About the Author Praveen is a mechanical engineer by qualification, a software architect by profession and a sports-person, photographer and traveler at heart. He loves exploring his home country India and has also traveled to Europe and South East Asia. He loves all types of sports, enjoys vegetarian food and lives in Thiruvananthapuram, India with his wife and three year old daughter. His dream is to travel the world with his family someday. And, become a self-published author. 'Himalayas: Through Heaven and Hell in the Hills' is his first book. It is not common to be one of the characters in the book one reads! We had been dreaming about and planning this trip for almost an year and a half and when it started to materialize, despite several potential derailing events, we couldn't believe ourselves. We were literally living our dreams! To read about such a trip later and relive those moments is happiness unexplainable.Praveen has done a great job in penning down the journey in a very easy to read manner and to the point. The narration flows naturally with well maintained accuracy, supported with the beautiful pictures he captured with his Nikon. As the title says, we saw the best and the worst. The mountains, the snow, the turquoise rivers and the monasteries presented jaw-dropping, unforgettable moments for us. The discomforting and potentially life threatening experiences Praveen went through gave us the scare of our lives.If I am asked the one message a reader could take away from this book, I would say, "Never underestimate the mountains". Himalayas can make you jump with joy, it can bestow tranquil moments of self-reflective qualities and without a warning, make you shiver head to toe in terror.I recommend this book to travelers aspiring a trip to The Himalayas, hoping that it would help them plan better. But do bear in mind that the area's geographic, climatic and political landscape is always shifting and end to end planning to the last detail is always necessary, even if it is your twentieth trip to Ladakh.I wish the three of us could do this trip again in the near future and we could complete the trip as planned, with all three of us till the end, and Praveen would write another book which is longer than this one. :)

Amazing photographs and vivid storytelling By Teresa Kander This is a quick, easy read which is filled with details of the author's journey through the Himalayas. It was quite a trip, encompassing the good, the bad and the ugly. As the title states, he saw Heaven while going through Hell.The photographs which are included, also the work of the author, are breathtaking. They give you a real sense of the area and make you feel you are taking the journey along with him.If you would like to see amazing pictures of the Himalayan area of India, and read the author's travel experiences, I highly recommend this little book.**I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.**

By Autumn Fallen Over Book Reviews I received this book to give an honest review.So I was asked if I would review it and of course I said yes even though it is not my normal reading material. This is a quick read and it actually has real pictures in it. This author took a trip and we see what happened to him during the 5 day trip. Now not a lot happened on the trip but we do get to see what places he visited and how he handled the sickness that would overcome him at times.There is not much more to say as it would be giving away the entire story if I say more. If you want to read about his trip to the Himalayas then grab this short story.
