By bfrankvs I'd HIGHLY recommended Beautiful Like a Mayfly for anyone with a love of the natural world, travel, art, and/or philosophy--not to mention anyone who appreciates high-quality writing. It's a short but inspiring read, and the prose is beautiful, honest, and frequently poetic.Beautiful... is dedicated to Franklin's more personal life moments, especially those that inspired his belief that conservation of the natural world, culture, and history is a higher calling than the mere pursuit of "success." While the book does cast the occasional shade on humanity's darker impulses, it's imbued throughout with a spirit of devil-may-care optimism and the ability to find beauty even in seemingly mundane situations.
