This travel narrative is a light-hearted romp through filming locations for the series ‘Outlander’ and then on into the Highlands, by a New Zealander who cannot get enough of Scotland. In May 2015 Jenny leaves from Auckland for Edinburgh and then daily records her trip as she drives herself around, following her impulses and the meandering roads of her ancestral home. Follow her, as she ‘Follows Claire’, the protagonist of Diana Gabaldon’s ‘Outlander’, who went through standing stones in 1945 to find herself in the Highlands in 1743. Some of this story is devoted to revisiting the filming locations for the series, and recounting the fun of a UK Outlander Gathering that happened in Crieff. The rest of the narrative is a humorous account of her daily impressions of the Highlands and Outer Hebrides from the point of view of a New Zealander cast adrift on that far distant shore.

A wonderful tour of Scotland By Jackie Campbell This book was written by a bright and entertaining Kiwi lass known for her "Outrageous Outlander" memes on Twitter and Facebook. Somewhat familiar with her sense of humor, I followed her on Twitter during her trip and was impressed by the planning and adventurous spirit she displayed in short tweets. I knew, as a woman who was single and traveled alone for most of my adulthood, I would enjoy and relate to her stories. Little did I know! I found this book to be a delight; a detailed description of a trip through Scotland that I would love to take myself but probably will not be able to do. Every sight and area was beautifully described and I felt as if I traveled by her side. The photos were plentiful to back up the text. This is a great book for those of us who yearn for Scotland but cannot either physically or financially do it now. When I can, I hope to follow in her footsteps. Maybe I will run into Jenny on her next trip.

I followed Jenny's blog last year as she undertook this adventurous journey around ethereal, majestic Scotland and was delighted with the additional material she saved for this book. Her love for Scotland and for Diana Gabaldon's OUTLANDER Series, are well known and her OUTLANDER memes are legendary. Jenny's delightful, light-hearted prose and breath-taking photographs of Scotland's incredible beauty and variety made me feel like I had gone back in time with her to experience this fabulous trip, and OUTLANDER's highly anticipated tv debut, all over again. Thank you, Jenny! I'm available to go back to Scotland any time...
