The hazards of cultural relativism By Kelly Thomas As a student of sociology, and a long time admirer of the work of Dr. Tree, I looked forward to this book with great anticipation. Her observations and impartial analysis of cultural divides is of increasing importance in our continuously shrinking world. Her dissemination and clarity of the divide between east and west, racial and ethnic biases and institutionalized gender expectations is troubling and clear. We have a very long way to go, not only within cultures, but as a species.I am grateful she took the time to write her work down in such an unpretentious manner, with the perfect rationing of humor and levity to counteract some of the truly disturbing behavior she encountered.A must read for insight into social orders we rarely get to see. Bravo, Dr. Tree.
