In 1901, Florence McCrea married into one of the most prosperous families in the Dominion of Canada, becoming Lady Eaton fourteen years later when her husband, John Craig Eaton, was knighted. Not long after the death of her husband, Lady Eaton retired from her home in Toronto to the seventy-two-room, Norman-style chateau she had built on their King City property. She named it Eaton Hall. The estate fueled the local economy and community, supported the Canadian World War II effort and established a firm place in the hearts and minds of the residents of King Township. Rediscover an enchanting and bygone age with the life and history of Lady Eaton and her grand Eaton Hall.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A wonderful read! By John Hornsby This book reminded me of stories that my mother related about her early days in Canada, following her arrival from England in April of 1912 with her parents and siblings. Here is a brief outline. My maternal grandfather was employed at the Estate during the 1920's/early 1930's before moving on in 1935 to his own farm near Priceville, ON. At that time of his employment at Eaton Hall, he and his family lived on the 6th Line [now Weston Road], just North of the King side-road, in a small home on one acre of land. This structure still exists to my knowledge. Family history, via my one remaining Uncle, reveals that my Grandfather walked to and from the Eaton Estate, approximately 10 miles! I gather from Kelly Mathews' book that the farm employees were housed on the farm, in which case my Grandfather would have been away from home most of the time. A wonderful read!
